How Will You Decide Where You Will Relocate To?
I am having trouble deciding where I want to live. I was born and raised in Brooklyn New York and lived there for most of my life. In 2006 I moved to Southern New Jersey. In 2015,I downsized from a four level, three and one half bathrooms, finished basement, two bedrooms and one studio like loft, washer/dryer outside of my master suite. After retiring I realized I didn’t want to be in that big house anymore. That house involved a lot of taking care of.
That house was my baby and I miss it sometimes. After letting my house go, I moved into a two-bedroom one-bathroom 900 square foot apartment with my eighteen-year old son (who is now twenty-one). I know, a big difference from the house. I rarely saw my son when we lived in the house now I see him several times a day. I love this town. I have finally learned my way around and I like what the area offers me. However, I do not like that New Jersey State taxes my New York City pension. The Governor just signed a bill raising the taxes on gas. New Jersey is known for having the lowest gas in the tri-state area. It is against the law to pump your gas. I like that because I have a phobia about pumping my gas.
Now that I have given you a little background I need your help. I know that I want to move; the problem is deciding where to move. Maybe you have that same problem? Do you know where you want to live when you retire? Will you downsize and move into a smaller home? Will you stay in your same area, state or country? Well, I guess that we have the same dilemma.
Okay let’s start with my top ten places of where I would want to relocate. Yes I was able to narrow it down to ten places. It was difficult but I did it. In the next ten-blog posts I will share with you information about each of my top ten choices. I will tell you why each city fits my criteria for moving and why they do not. Hopefully, I will be able to help you as I endure this journey.
My new abode needs to be near a major hub airport, because I love to travel. I do not want to travel far to get to the airport. I am not quite sure if I want to rent or buy, I will talk more about that later. I am not quite sure if I want a house or an apartment, I will talk more about that later. I prefer to be where the weather is warm most of the year. I would like to be near the beach, I don’t have to be on the beach but I need to see the beach. Two of my top ten will not be near the beach, I have chosen them for other reasons.
Okay now for my top ten places for relocation. They are listed in alphabetical order, showing no favoritism at this time.
· California
· Delaware
· Florida
· Georgia
· New Jersey
· North Carolina
· Other Countries
· Pennsylvania
· Texas
· Virginia
Each biweekly post will discuss cities from each state above that fit all or most of my criteria. Of course, during my research I might come across better-suited places that might cause me to replace one with another. This is going to be a very informative and rewarding journey. I hope that I will help you with your decisions.
ENJOY!!!
