California Here I Come!

It is time for the last planned trip of Summer 2015. I am a procrastinator so I haven't started packing yet. When do you start to pack for a vacation? The one thing that I did pack was my passport. I can not forget that again. I will definitely take my Retirement Tools.

The last time we went to San Diego I forgot my passport and was not able to go to Mexico. After my travel companions came back from Mexico I was told that my drivers license would have been sufficient, I did not want to take that chance.

I am preparing to go to California, I leave in three weeks. I have my tickets thanks to Lisa McCants of A 1 Diamond Travel. I have to pack. I think that I will do a little shopping. A new outfit is a good thing.

We will stay in San Diego then drive to Los Angles and Malibu beach. Then we will return to San Diego take the train to Mexico for the day. The rest of the trip will be spent in San Diego. I can't wait to take plenty of pictures.

Stay Tuned!

Retirement and Staying Healthy

It is important to continue to be active when you retire. When you cease to be as active or more active than when you were working. Being retired you realize you that you don't have to do anything that you don't want to do, you don't have to go anywhere that you don't want to go. There is not a schedule unless you make one. Saying this means that you can possibly just want to lay around in the bed or on the sofa watching television and eating your favorite sweets.

I have to make myself get up some days and move around. It is so easy to lay around and not be active. I have gained unnecessary weight since I have retired. I realize that not having the daily routine of being a school administrator and having the six hour commute has affected the numbers on my scale and not in a good way.

I want to be comfortable in my body and I love clothes. But I know that everything in the store does not look good on everyone. I want to wear the clothes that I love and them to look good on me.

My first step in the weight loss journey is to start a  journal. Keeping track of what you eat and how active you are helps to keep you focused.  When you read a list of  the things that you are putting in your body maybe you won't put them there. At least that is what I am telling myself.

It is hard to change what you have been doing for most of your life. Changing eating habits that have existed for a long time. The things that are not good for you taste good to you. Being retired you don't have a schedule therefore you can become sedentary.

Instead of drinking sodas, I drink water with lemon. I love  all kinds of fruits, vegetables is  the problem. So I will make smoothies and use my juicer that has been gathering dust. So as of tomorrow August 8, 2015 I am on a having a healthy and active lifestyle. Stay tuned I will keep you informed.
